Cisco Complaint XOT implementation to enable X.25 overlay over a satellite base IP network backhaul

Abstract: The existing implementation used a proprietary backbone protocol to send serial data across the Satellite based IP network which mandates a proprietary node at CO side to terminate TCP connection initiated between the VSAT and the Serial Gateway. HSC enhanced this implementation by augmenting it with the standard XoT implementation(as per Cisco informational RFC 1613) in order to have the flexibility to do away with the Serial Gateway at the CO side and replace it by industry standard devices from vendors like Cisco, IBM. This provides flexibility to the enterprise customer to use any equipment which interoperates with devices that support RFC1613.

Customer Benefits:

  • Flexible system design so that the proprietary implementation and XoT could co-exist
  • Scalable implementation to support more number of serial interfaces by means of minimal configuration
