Radio/Wireless

Overview | Case Studies | Whitepapers
As the demand for Wireless Data Services continues to rise, the current trend in the Wireless Communication Market is to move towards flat all-IP Networks offering "Wireless Broadband". 3G with it's its HSxPA based technology has seen many deployments in the recent past. While 3G has been promoted by cellular operators to provide "on the move" broadband connectivity to it's its subscribers, WiMax (a 4G technology) has been more popular as fixed wireless broadband service and as backhaul link to WiFi Deployments. Mobile WiMax has seen some recent deployments; however they still remain localized and lack wide area coverage.

In this scenario another 4G technology – Long Term Evolution (LTE), a 3GPP Standard, has garnered a lot of attention as the future Wireless Technology. LTE, with its support for higher data rates (peak ~300Mbps), inherent support for mobility and support for interworking with existing 3GPP Networks is seen by incumbent cellular operators as natural choice to upgrade from existing 2.5G/3G Networks. Major wireless operators like Verizon, AT&T and Vodafone have already declared their allegiance to LTE and prelim trials to demonstrate LTE capabilities have been done by major OEMs like Nokia Siemens Networks, Alcatel Lucent, Ericsson and Motorola.

At HSC we have strong experience in a broad range of wireless technologies ranging from GSM to LTE. With a vast wireless expertise HSC has the potential to support and maintain conventional Wireless Systems like GSM/GPRS. At the same time we have been involved in design and development of WiMAX based systems. As part of our R&D group, LTE is the current focus area, where we are involved in ramping up on the new technology through building prototypes and Service Enablers in LTE L1/L2 and higher layers
