Abstract: Key business need was to leverage today's best of the breed "off-the shelf" products, and lay the foundation for a next generation AI based NMS Solution with multi-vendor and multi-platform capability.
HSC evaluated best of breed "off-the shelf" NMS products like Netcool, Openview, SMARTS, Voyence, InfoVista, ARS, OmniCenter Selection of products was based on following parameters: - Maturity of the product
- Scalability of the product w.r.t. network size
- Open Standards based
- Business object mapping functions
- Adaptability
Solution for network management was SNMP based. The fault management consists of geographical map based console and alarm display.
Performance monitoring was facilitated through plotted graphs. Some of the key parameters monitored are modem SNR, bit error ratio, radio operation status and radio signal latency.
Customer Benefits: - Downtime of the services was significantly reduced, which led to better customer satisfaction
- Number of calls to "customer support representatives" went down substantially, which led to significant reduction in OPEX.
