Overview
The Internet Multimedia Subsystem (IMS) is the de-facto standard for a converged network architecture for uniformed service delivery across both wired and wireless worlds. Promoted by 3GPP in a consortium of over 400+ operators, vendors and ISVs, IMS deployments have steadily increased since 2005 and today stands at over fifty widescale deployments and trials, world wide, with new deployments reported every few months.

Since IMS is currently being adapted over a variety of access networks including WCDMA, CDMA2000, UMTS, WiMAX and more, a good understanding of its principles and how different industry bodies are extending IMS is critical for ISVs, Operators and OEMs who want to deploy innovative products leveraging the benefits of Next Generation Networks

The Challenge:

With the goals that the IMS is attempting to solve, it is no surprise that the evolution and architecture is significantly complex. 3GPP, ATIS, 3GPP2, TISPAN, OMA and several other standards bodies are working together to evolve different aspects of the standard. As an example of the complexity and breadth, 3GPP itself has more than twenty groups (with many more subgroups) evolving different parts of the 3GPP system, IMS included.

This poses a challenge for Operators, OEMs and vendors - the amount of resources, time and investment required to track, update, and then apply it to their own network is very significant.

The Solution:

HSC recognizes the importance of this evolution and has, at a broad level, two different solutions to meet the needs of all customers, irrespective of size.
IMS Standards Tracking & Reporting
Let HSC track the 3GPP IMS evolution for you. This is an annual subscription at a very affordable price. Customers get frequent reports with succint information on evolution, analysis and comments as well as talk time with senior analysts to discuss findings.

Customer Specific Consulting
In addition to Standards Tracking, you may be interested in leveraging our expertise for a variety of IMS related service/architecture issues. For example, If you are an Operator wanting to deploy IMS:

  • What are the existing IMS products out there today and how do you know which to choose ?
  • How do I translate business goals to technical requirements ?
  • What is the right architecture for initial deployment and continued migration ?

If you are an OEM/ISV:

  • What does it take to make a product IMS compliant ?
  • If a product is already IMS compliant, are there any gaps in functionality that need to be filled in to be able to interop with others?
  • How does one perform feature/call flow verification ?
  • You need to architect and deploy a killer app on IMS

HSC can help you with all of the above. Our senior Analysts and Architects can work with you from Conceptualization, Requirements to Design. And if you need further assistance, our Software Design and Implementation team could even implement, deploy, test and maintain the product for you. For more information, please Click here
